• I read all the reviews before purchasing and some said they were disappointed with the fact the book was missing pieces of the story. Honestly for a baby/toddler it is perfect. Get the full version when they get old but in the meantime it's a great buy. These books are excellent few words and plenty pictures for babies and toddlers. Hard cover makes it easy for them to turn, very cute and small to carry any and everywhere.
• I grew up reading Dr. Seuss, among other children's authors. I had fond memories of that, so I bought this set for my child who was turning 1. I wish I had realized how much garbage that Dr. Seuss had written. Of the set, there is only one truly good book "Oh the Thinks You Can Think." The worst of the bunch is "Ten Apples up on Top." I actually had to hide that one because it sucks so bad. It's a terrible book and I regret subjecting a developing brain to it. I mean, if you're going to write literary nonsense, can you at least make it good?
  
  The books are durable and stand up to a one-year-old playing with them, stepping on them, looking at them, and handing them to adults to read. If only the contents of the books were as good of quality as the material they are printed upon!
  
  So if you want only one good book to read out of the whole set, then buy it. If not, then give your child the instruction manual for your TV set. At least it will be better written than "10 Apples up on Top."
• We bought this intending as a back up present that ended sitting around until our child was born. So we ended up keeping it and our child loves it. The books aren’t the most recognizable Dr. Seuss books but we still have fun reading them. We use the container to store our son’s Dr. Seuss flashcards we bought separately. He loves carrying the box around like a mini suitcase.
• I love them for my 2 year old they are perfect size and thickness for the amount that I paid for them thanks again
• Very nice little books. These are smaller than the regular ones which is fine for little kids. The pages are thick cardboard for those just learning to care for books. Come in a nice little carrying case.
• Gave as gifts to three babies thus far! Very much appreciated!
• These books are very small and kind of disappointing. Perhaps our 2 1/2 year old grandchild is too old for them, but the Dr. Seuss wit is timeless. I did have to purchase other books that were larger for her to take to pre-school in order to share illustrations with the children.
• I bought two of these box sets and they are ok. I enjoy reading the Ten Apples Up On Top book and the Oh, The Thinks You Can Think book. The Shape of Me and Other Stuff is ok but I do not like the Hop on Pop as i just don't like the reading flow. But still the set is ok. These DO NOT work well for a young child who likes putting everything in their mouth. The board book pages will pretty much disintegrate when wet so be aware of that. My little teether took out the whole bottom of the bonded part VERY quickly! We can still use the book but I don't let him play with them when we aren't reading them.

• Have to admit to being initially disappointed when I received this today, a favorite I recall reading to my sons, and realized I'd mistakenly ordered the board book rather than the hardcover. (Maybe I DO need that new pair of reading glasses after all!) I really don't care for how reviews for all formats are combined on a listing, because I'd find it hard to imagine that this board book would garner a 5 star rating from anyone who remembers the full story, since - if you're familiar with it - it entirely leaves out the part of the little bird asking an old car, boat and plane if any of them are his mother, and the baby bird's recounting his travels to his mother once he finally finds her. Obviously, board books are abbreviated, but this is REALLY abbreviated.
  
  Suppose the reason I'm giving this 4 stars is because I do think that - given its brevity and very simple words - it'd be a good little (and I do mean little at 5-3/4" x 4-1/4"x 1/2 thick) book for tiny hands to turn by themselves, with thick coated pages that are forgiving of occasionally sticky little fingers. Would be a nice little piece of reading material for a child just learning to read. It's my own fault, and I'll be ordering the hardback as well, but maybe you'd like to know exactly how it reads before making a decision for yourself

The baby bird could not fly. But he could walk. 'Now I will go and find my mother,' he said. 'Are you my mother?' the baby bird asked a kitten. The kitten just looked and looked. It did not say a thing. 'Are you my mother?' the baby bird asked a hen. 'No,' said the hen. 'Are you my mother?' the baby bird asked a dog. 'I am not your mother. I am a dog,' said the dog. 'Are you my mother?' the baby bird asked a cow. 'How could I be your mother?' said the cow. 'I am a cow.' The baby bird stopped to think. The kitten and the hen were not his mother. The dog and the cow were not his mother. 'I have a mother,' said the baby bird. 'I know I do. I will find her. I will. I WILL!' Just then the baby bird saw a big thing." (A power shovel.) "YOU are my mother!' he said. The big thing said, 'SNORT!' 'Oh no!' said the baby bird. 'You are not my mother. You are a scary snort!' The Snort lifted the baby bird up, up, up. Then something happened. The Snort put the baby bird right back in the tree. The baby bird was home! Just then the mother bird came back. 'I know who YOU are,' said the baby bird. 'You are not a kitten or a hen or a dog. You are not a cow or a Snort! You are a bird, and you are my mother!' "
  
  So you can decide for yourself if this is what you're looking for.

• This book is abridged. They took two or three pages out from the original. Very disappointing.
• This is a great Book for early readers. I bought this to read to my 2 year old. I figured that board books would be better since she likes to tear out pages in hard cover books. This is a classic book that she enjoys but to anyone who does not know, this is not the full book. it is really condensed. which in my case is perfect because its short enough to where my toddler doesn't lose focus.
• Our grandson is currently engrossed by two authors, Sergio Ruzzier (and I'll review his books soon), and P.D. Eastman. Before settling down for a nap, he'll take a few of his vehicles or toy animals and read them a story. Often it's this one, which, like all his favorites, he has memorized. The plight of a baby bird who can't find his mother is one that resonates with a toddler. The fact that the baby bird is undaunted by being unable to fly, is unfazed by the fact that he has no idea what his mother looks like, and isn't at all intimidated by the fact that every potential "mother" he encounters is far larger than he, appeals to a two-year-old's "I can do this by myself" mindset. P. D. Eastman had a wonderful gift for grabbing the attention of very young children with both story-line and illustrations, while simultaneously amusing adults. Hence, I never tire of any of his stories, particularly "Are You My Mother", which I have been reading aloud (first to my baby sister, then to my daughters, and now to my grandson) for 55 years.
• Baby loves this book, it's soft and interactive and apparently delicious judging from the amount of time it spends In her mouth.
• Part of the book is upside down ...wtf??!
• I bought this for my one-year-old niece as part of her Christmas present. I had this book when I was a kid myself (I'm 39 now!) so I thought it'd be fun to start a little tradition. My niece loves books but her little baby hands aren't the gentlest, so I was very happy to find this in the form of a board book.

• The best book on selling that I’ve read in ten years. And I read all of them. Get ready for the ride of your life, this book debunks all of the so call “axioms” about selling that you have heard over the course of your career. In this book the author “Keenan” (don’t ask I didn’t) Handles all of that sticky stuff that slows down, nay, just about kills your sales effort.
  Here are some of the more cogent examples from the book
  • The customer does not care about you. The customer does not care about your company, or how long it has been in business, or how it started. The customer only cares about one thing, and that is, what can you do for her?
  • The sales person is dead You are a consultant, an advisor, an expert, someone who is a peer, someone, the customer comes to rely on for valuable solutions.
  • Customers don’t buy from friends Or drinking buddies, or golf partners. Customers, buy from someone who can bring them value…yes, even if they don’t actually like that person.
  • Customers do like change. Heck, they will embrace change, if you can prove to them that it will make their product, and their company better.
  • Show them the future Customers will change, when the future you show them is better than the present, they told you they liked.
  • Customers will return your phone calls and answer your emails If they are provocative enough. If the messages surprise them and if they are intrigued. You don’t like to answer boring sales calls, why should your customer?
  And there is so much more. The author shows you how to move the customer off the dime when he is stalling. Or, how to get her to talk and into telling you what they need, by asking her a series of questions that will drive her to let you solve the problems for them.
  I started sending this book out to some of my sales training clients, even before I finished it tonight. Please, if you are the kind of person who never reads a book on sales, start today with this one. Or, if you are the kind of person who is reading sales books all the time, grab this one next. Heck, stop reading the one in your hand right now and pick this one up. I guarantee it is better than the one you’re reading now.

• Keenan has written a timeless classic that will help any salesperson who's stuck in mediocrity or who's looking to sharpen the saw with the latest thinking in terms of sales best practices. This book was recommended to me by a recognized sales leader and Linkedin colleague. So, I'm not a fan or a client of Keenan's. Well, I'm so glad I purchased this book. I finished it 3 days.
  
  Gap Selling provides a fresh framework and approach to hitting and exceeding your number. Some of the topics it covers include Knowing the Game, How to Play, Gap Prospecting and Building a Gap-selling team. Keenan dispels some commonly held beliefs and practices in terms of sales that are holding people back from reaching their potential.
  
  What I really appreciated about this book was it's brutal honesty, its deep insights, and the fact that it was well-written. Some salesbooks have tremendous content but aren't well written. Gap Selling is the best of both.
  
  I highly recommend that you read this book. If you're like me and are in sales leadership, buy a copy of it for your team as a New Year's Gift. They'll love you for it.
• I can't say enough about this book and how ever-present it is in my mind as I go about my daily routine and the immediate impact it's had in my meetings. Questions are better. Conversations are richer. Insights are deeper. Problems are revealed. Value is higher. Much higher. Further, it places a new perspective on sales and actually clarified for me WHY I love sales It's because I'm solving problems. Keenan teaches, our JOB is solving problems and if we can't diagnose our prospects' & customers' challenges, there is NO SALE. I have the hardcover (signed by the Red Plaid Man himself!) and the audio book. I've listened once and am going to listen again (and again), this time with the hardcover by my side, so I can mark it up and leverage the materials (PIC, etc.) provided. With each listen and read, new approaches will be revealed and it will be woven even more tightly into my process.
  
  Simply put If you're in the business of SOLVING PROBLEMS (sales) - and who isn't - you need to grab this book NOW.

• It is a must to first know your market and customers to then be able to position your solution for customer outcomes and know the value of the outcome based upon the pain being experienced by your prospects. Marketers, read the book, refresh your focus, target customer definitions and messaging to your customers and support your sellers.
  
  Content is so important to sales and marketing and being consistent with the messaging regardless of channel is critical. Keenan describes selling to the Gap between desired outcome and current state. The bigger the gap, the bigger the pain and the bigger the need to fill that gap.
  
  This is a great read for both sales and marketing to drive the revenue engine. Marketing it is our job to fuel that engine, this is a good read to get on the same page with your sellers.

• Wow! What a pleasure to read about Darrell, The Marlboro Man and what it means to myself.
  After reading the book, now I know my former father-in-law was telling the truth about working with Darrell before he became famous. My father-in-law was a tough strong Mexican from the Southern tip of Texas known as big John. He worked as a reserve sheriff and at Noble's for 25 years, Darrell worked at Nobles for 12.
  Darrell smoked Pall Mall unfiltered and big John smoked Camel unfiltered. Along with almost everyone else that smoked anything available including dry cow paddies if all else fails.
  After Darrell became famous, he paid a visit to his old cow poke buddies in the bunkhouse at Nobles.

  Reading this essay was special for the very reason that most of my life has been spent just a few miles from Nobles feedlot not knowing a lot about the history except from my in-law and from the old timers . Now, only dry weeds slightly bend in a hazy breeze, the huge feed bins stand rusty and decayed, just rattlers, jack rabbits and coyotes roam.
  It also brought back the shared memories of my youth. We've been fortunate enough to keep our small family owned ranch going almost 50 years. Just like Darrell, I milked cows by hand, feed calves (before school & after), branded cattle, casterated, dehorned, dewormed, doctored, pulled calves, irrigated pasture. I agree with Darrell, some of those chores I hated to do, but I look back during a era we didn't think about it, we just did it. We started with one holstein cow, eventually married her with actor/rodeo star Ben Johnson's bull.
  In 1998, the beef prices collapsed and it nearly killed my dad seeing his pure-bred limousine first calf heifers going for beef prices. Much of it was due to the so called BS "mad cow disease" At that point we decided it was time to pull the plug, cut our losses, then lick our wounds. I sit back, close my eyes and remember those days, maybe with rose colored fondness.
  Since 1998, we moved on to other crops, but every year we can't resist to pay the state and retain our family cattle brand with pride. BAR OVER B - OPEN A

• This book is a particularly interesting tale of the 1950’s era, multi ethnic population in California’s San Joaquin Valley who got along with each other without the polarized racial politics of today. Both Fred Franzia aka “Two Buck Chuck” and Darrell Winfield of Marlboro fame emerged from that culture and became larger than life characters on the national stage. Their entertaining stories are well told in this quick read.
• I have to say this is Franks best work so far ( and I loved all the others before this one) I just can’t put it down and even read it on my lunch hour at work. Congratulations on your best book so far.
• Loved this book. Being from the San Joaquin Valley it really hit home for me. The details and history was amazing. I even read some sections twice. I would recommend it to anyone.
• This collection of character sketches about people with San Joaquin Valley connections held my interest throughout. Frank Bergon lets them tell their own stories, for the most part, and profiles people with diverse ethnic backgrounds – Basque, Okie, Native American, African American, Chicano, and Korean, to paint a complex, sometimes contradictory portrait of the Valley in the past and at present. Bookending these mini-biographies are longer pieces about Fred Franzia, the winemaker who produces, amongst other things, Charles Shaw wines, aka Two-Buck Chuck, and Darrell Winfield, the most famous of the models used by Marlboro. In the course of the book Bergon brings in excellent information about Valley agriculture, water, land ownership and many other important topics. A very good read. I received this book from the publisher as part of LibraryThing's Early Reviewer program, in exchange for an honest review.

The showdown this time is the High Noon of California's Central Valley where New West meets Old again the central dichotomy of Bergon's Nevada ("Shoshone Mike", "Wild Game") to California ("Jesse's Ghost") fiction. These essaies, like the silver smithing of an antique Squash Blossom necklace set with the finest Battle Mountain turquoise, are the stories of our complex lives as Westerners. The characters of these stories---from Two-Buck Chuck (vinter-tycoon Fred Franzia) to The Marlboro Man ((Darrell Winfield, a real cowboy who didn't hunt or shoot and survived lung cancer) frame both the life and times of Frank Bergon himself, as well as that of the American West from post-war twentieth century to the present day. Bergon was born in Ely, Nevada, the progeny of Basque sheepherding immigrants and raised in the San Joaquin Valley as a rancher's son on a personal level, he knows of what he speaks. As a novelist with "Jesse's Ghost" which is the first part of the Central Valley triptych, it is this writer's most humble opinion that he exceeds Stegnar. Out here in Nevada we deplorables would call him "the real deal". This home grown boy who went on to Stanford and Harvard to teach at Vassar College in the East is like an inverted Owen Wister he takes the myth for us and makes it real. Aupa, Tony! • Delia Owens managed to write a story that will respond to the depths of your soul, and you will remember it for a very long time. From the first lines of the novel, it is obvious that the author has deep feelings for his heroine and nature; the connection between this beautiful girl and the swamp where she lives is palpable. The fact that the summary of the novel “Where the Crawdads Sing” is worth reading is beyond doubt, and it is worthy of the highest recommendation.
• This book exceeded my already high expectations; it emanates a quiet power, a slow drawing in and connection of reader to the book, one that I found myself able to get lost in due to the lush atmosphere and the depth of emotion. A girl fighting against the world. A murder mystery left in the dark. A bond as fleeting as the crawdads. This summary book teaches us important lessons in a time-efficient and cost-effective manner.
• I was somewhat hesitant to buy, because at least two of the previous "reviews" were nonsensical, repetitive, and not at all indicative of having actually read the book. Having taken the risk as I had a book club meeting coming up and hadn't the time to complete the book yet, I found it an adequate enough summary of the characters, the plot with all its twists, as well as the foreshadowing and moral dilemmas presented to the reader that I was able to participate intelligently in the discussion. I am now also eager to read the book itself.

• This is just a summary of the original novel from Delia Owens is an incredibly beautiful, totally immersive, an ode to the natural environment and the marshes in particular. I just loved the setting of the book, in the marsh. I loved the atmosphere and just felt that I was there. The descriptions of the environment, the scenery and nature were just beautiful. I am a bird watcher and loved her descriptions of the birds feathers.
